gap to great
Thought this book was OK.
Some takeaways:
1. Gap year for most students can provide cultural immersion, but for me, will require more than being in a new country; need to go to advanced language classes, read, etc.; my goals might be different: academic preparation, relaxation, etc.
2. Gap year must be deliberate and structured; one way to do this is through a gap year program, or to structure it yourself; huge difference gap year vs. pay to play; if you are wasting time during your gap year, it is no different than wasting your freshman year of college.
3. Travel vs. tourism: travel = actively learning and immersing yourself in the culture, not just talking to the bartender
