Hi.

Welcome to my gap year blog.

harry potter and the cursed child

I read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for one of my students who is a reluctant reader but also happens to like screenplays. Cursed Child is a fast read, and I’m glad I got a few laughs out of it.

On the other hand, it’s so different from Rowling’s usual writing style. When you water down a story to just dialogue, the usual richness of Harry Potter isn’t there. I don’t think the character development was up to par. I feel like I barely knew Delphi or Albus. Harry kind of reminds me of Mr. Weasley - middle age does not treat him well.

This book might have been a guilty pleasure for me, but then again, if I’m being a discerning literary critic, I can’t really say it was good writing.
